PALS Course and Certification
PALS course developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Academy of Pediatrics for the continuing education of health care providers. The course focuses on identifying pre-arrest states and preventing cardiopulmonary arrest in children. The course covers techniques relevant to effective recognition and pediatric resuscitation.

Course goals

After completing the PALS course, the participant will be able to demonstrate the following skills:

Identify symptoms of respiratory failure and shock in the infant or child.
Recognize the infant or child at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest.
Define approaches to the prevention of pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest.
Demonstrate the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed for the resuscitation of the child or infant in respiratory failure, shock, or cardiopulmonary arrest.

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in CPR and has developed instructional materials for this purpose.

Class size is limited to 10 students.

 

Provider status

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive PALS Provider Status through the AHA. The PALS Provider Card is valid for two years. You must complete a renewal course to maintain provider status.
